Ethereum and XRP Trade Over 50% Below Record Highs as Inflows Slow

Ethereum and XRP continue to trade well below their record levels following monthly declines of 12.6% and 13.8% respectively. Ethereum traded at $2,403, roughly 51.4% below its August 24, 2025 peak of $4,946, while XRP stood at $1.33, down 63.5% from its July 17, 2025 high of $3.65. Reclaiming those records would require an increase of 105.9% for Ethereum and 174.4% for XRP.
Market structure and supply mechanics present differing hurdles for each asset. Ethereum holds a market capitalization of $293.48 billion with 122.15 million tokens in circulation. XRP carries a market valuation of approximately $83.85 billion across 63.13 billion circulating tokens, against a maximum supply cap of 100 billion tokens that gives it a fully diluted value of $132.81 billion.
Institutional demand through investment vehicles has also moderated. According to SoSoValue data, XRP exchange-traded funds held $1.57 billion in net assets as of October 21, recording just $708,500 in daily inflows after two flat sessions and a $2.47 million outflow on October 16, down sharply from inflows of $22.65 million seen in late September.
